In firebird documentation appears that in power function with an x value negative, an error is raised, but I can execute in firebird 2.5
select power(-3.215,2) from rdb$database
where is the mistake, function or docs?

Description: Returns x to the y'th
power.
Result type: DOUBLE PRECISION
Syntax:
POWER (x, y)
If
xnegative, an error is raised.
