Hi Julius,

I had some issues setting up Firebird for the first time on Mac OS X which is based on Darwin, a unix-like OS, so these might help:
* Set the respective PATH to the Firebird resources directory (Mac = /Library/Frameworks/Firebird.framework/Resources/bin - you have to research what this is on Ubuntu)
* Try accessing gsec with: sudo gsec -user xxx -pass yyy (Obviously you have to change xxx and yyy to your Firebird user credentials)
* What really helped me was adding my own user to the group of the firebird user.
