Hey all.
I work with a software development company that uses Firebird for our database engine. We have several clients that have complained of losing connectiong to their database in the past week (since about last Thursday.
Upon investigation - the Firebird service was somehow stopped on their Win 2008 R2 servers. Even restarting the service, and enabling the service recovery option doesn't fix it.
The only common denominator that we've found is Win 2008 R2 and Firebird 2.1.3. They have varying antivirus solutions (some with no AV at all...); the physical sites are all spread about the country, and are not linked in any way through VPN or anything like that.
I would guess (based on my admittedly limited experience) that some sort of Windows update has caused an issue. ...That, or aliens.
We're in the process of reactively upgrading those offices to 2.5.2 (programmers are reluctant to move to the newest version, as we've yet to fully test it).
Anyone else experiencing this issue?
Any thoughts?
