No; localhost provides a pseudo-network connection for client/server. Embedded needs the path to the database with NO host.

Dunno quite what you mean here ('browse there"). Put FR and the embed lib in the same directory. FR will then load fbembed.dll and connect to the embedded server.

Embedded on Windows does no authentication.

If you are *creating* a database you need the full path to the FILE, i.e., include the name of the database file in the connection path. So, suppose you want to name the database file mydatabase.fdb, you want:

D:\dev-dir\mydatabase.fdb

where D: MUST BE a physical disk designator

NONE is not really useful unless your data will always be 100% 7-bit ascii.
