I have not used SQL Server 2005 Express, only the full version and I can
say it works perfectly on 7 different customer servers over the past 5
years. That applies to Firebird <2 to the latest version of 2.5, and
also to SQL Server 2008, but not 2012 yet. There has not been one single
issue.
I suggest you install your systems on a test server with a trial version
before going live. I also suggest using SQL Server 2012 Express if you
are limited to the free version.
