Hi All,
Some feedback of my 2.5 experience:
I've been putting off reporting anything, because I have no solid info yet, but maybe the little I have will be of help to someone...
I upgraded our inhouse server to 2.5 (but didn't backup/restore to update the ODS, because I was just running some preliminary tests, and may have had to revert - which I ended up doing)
We ran our automated testing software through on our main application, and all was fine.
Unfortunately, our inhouse bug and incident tracking software we use for support kept hanging up.
Being just an application that only we use, it has no easy install set. And with it being live, I didn't have much time to poke around before everyone came in for the day, and I had to revert.
I did try several evenings/early mornings to have a look, but with the whole thing freezing up completely, it's pretty difficult to see what's happening with Firebird.
I did manage to discover that it happened when one person added a comment from one PC, and was fine with them adding further comments, until a SECOND person added a comment on another PC. That was when everything would hang.
The comment is a record, with a time, ID, and a blob for the memo.
In my main system, which has no problems, I also have records with blobs for memos, and can happily add new records via different PC with no hanging.
My next step, will be to set up a dummy 2.5 server for a dummy inhouse system, so that I can have time to test and debug, without a time constraint. Unfortunately, I just haven't gotten back there yet. (Being a pure inhouse app, there is no easy install set, and I'll also have to find another 2 client PC's to use for the testing)
Both the working and hanging applications use FIBPlus.
Sorry, don't have much more info, but I'll post more when I have more.
Regards
Maya
