What about use of glibc 2.5. Yes, it's known to cause problems when
used with 2.5 under relatively high load. On the other hand, it's
quite possible that glibc-2.5-49 has backports of fixes from fresh
glibc version and may be used safely with fb2.5.
I.e. on my mind: if it works for you work with it.
