Subject Re: Installing FB 2.5 with my App

I can see this becoming even more of a problem in the future as Firebird becomes more popular. I don't see a way for the downloaded install to accommodate changing ports, etc. My end users are insurance agencies who typically don't have an IT staff, nor do they have much IT knowledge themselves. Since my app will replace a previous one that used a MS Access back end that had almost no setup, this is going to be a very big change for them (and for me).

Several comments in this thread are leading me to believe that I should not just distribute and launch the downloaded setup program, Rather, I should either create my own with all the anti-interference precautions built in, or can I use the downloaded setup, specify a non-standard install directory, and then just edit firebird.conf to change the port? Can all this be done via a silent install?
I am very open to suggestions on how to do this, safely and in a way an inexperienced user is unlikely to mess up? Obviously, I am new to this. Please forgive these very basic questions.
