I'm new to Firebird. Previously my app used MS Access as the back end, but we decided to get a real database. The app has been completely rewritten for Firebird, and now I'm creating an install program for the app, that must also install the server.
This is a commercial app that is installed by end users scattered all over the USA. We don't have control over what they do except for the few customers who are smart enough to know their limitations, and call for help.
I'm creating the setup program using Wise Install Builder 7.x to install the app. If the use wishes to install the server, the standard 2.5 setup program is installed and launched. The user manual will give instructions as to how to answer the installation questions (e.g Super Server vs Classic, etc).
Question: Is this a recommended method for installing the server in this kind of situation?
BTW, I chose Wise over Inno because 1) I already have experience with it, 2) I find Inno less intuitive because I can't visualize the things it does automatically - probably a learning curve situation.
