I have done as you suggested. I used flamerobin I can see the database and
add the connection, but still I get the below error when I want to connect
to it. Must be something wrong in the database itself then.

As the path and everything else is correct

Try http://www.flamerobin.org/
t is a little more friendly with it's error messages,but I suspect that you
are
simply not pointing to the right place.
Adding a database in Flamerobin will help you check you DO hv the right
path.
