They are out there running happily (for perhaps quite long period of time and are therefore more likely to be established applications) on pretty stable v1.5.x and have waited - perhaps wisely - before finally committing to upgrade to 2.x?
>This is especially the case (as many people are aware - and a big criticism of FB and cause of confusion for new users) with the number of versions (and flavours, and backports) of each: v1.5.x, v2.0.x, v2.1x, v2.5 and future v3.Is it? What about others who are yelling to get features added and old bugs fixed? Do you seriously think we are NOT going to do these things, just so that people can go on doing what they (unsafely) did for all those years? If you *like* these bugs so much, why bother with upgrading at all?

Can you point to where it is documented please. From Firebird 2.1.2 onwards, it is right there in a pink box in Chapter 2, New Features. From Firebird 2.0.5 onwards, it is right there in Chapter 1, General Notes, headed Important Notice (and also documented in Chapter 3, the section that deals with the API changes...worth your attention if you are using Delphi components that were written for Firebird 1.5).
