Have you considered looking into the various MON$ tables? I'm thinking
that MON$ATTACHMENTS might give you the count that you need?

MON$REMOTE_ADDRESS will give you the IP address that the connection was
made from.
MON$USER is the login name - so you can ignore SYSDBA connections for
example.
MON$ROLE might also be useful.
MON$REMOTE_PROCESS should give you the utility used to connect.

There are caveats with the MON$REMOTE_XXX columns if the client version
is < 2.0.

These tables were introduced at 2.1.

Cheers,
Norman.
