Thanks Helen. I tried your link and then couldn't access the news group. I even added the news.atkin.com news server to a news reader program and it wasn't able to connect. If you click on the "Subscribe Directly" link it shoots off an email with subscribe in the subject field, what is supposed to happen after that?

Is it possible to configure the firebird ODBC driver to make less connections in the connection pool or is it something built into the code of the driver? I had a look at the ODBC settings for the firebird driver and it doesn't look like anything like that can be configured.
