Win 7 64-bit (pro) (FB2.5 32-bit)
I had FB 2.5 RC3 installed on my machine. I wanted to upgrade to the release version, but before doing that I also wanted to check on a reported problem with my software. This required me to revert back to FB 2.0.
Upon doing that all my programs would not work anymore. At first I suspected a corruption of my Delphi compiler or the FIBplus packages.
However, even older programs, not using packages did not work anymore. To make matters worse, there was one program that still worked because it has some different code path. I suspect it has to do with handling of the client library, but that is besides the point here.
Eventually I discovered that the FB uninstall, RC3 and final, deletes the uninstall program (and a few other files) but does not remove the files in the bin folder, and who knows what else it misses. It doesn't matter whether the uninstall is run via the control panel or directly.
I think is the 2 Firebird installations got mixed up together and caused me this kind of trouble.
Eventually I got my machine working again by uninstalling, manually deleting the Program Files(x86)\Firebird\Firebird_2_5 folder. Then I did a re-install and it works fine again (for 2.0 and then 2.5).
Should this uninstall problem be reported in the tracker?
