why don't you setup a rpm for that with all is needed ?
a "light" firebird classic rpm is easy to setup
and with fb2.5 you can even customise your own build wich would even not interfere with a
Firebird installation that could be on the box, or even with rpm you can check
dependencies and don't install another Firebird if is is already there
but all this need to move to devel since you use 2.5 ;)
