Use gstat -h your_db -u userid -p password. You should get more details.

i am using gstat -a xxx

the result is:

Database file sequence:

File /home/firebird/ xxx/xxx.fdb is the only file

Access to database "/home/firebird/ xxx/xxx.fdb" is denied by server administrator
