We've come from a Windows background, using Firebird embedded and are
now porting some apps to Mac. I've managed to get Firebird Classic
2.1.2 working as embedded on some of our test machines under Mac OSX
10.5, thanks to the great artical at ibphoenix. I had to make some
changes to get it all to work (let me know if you want the details), but
basically - it's all good.

However - on some customers test machines, they are having problems
getting it going. Not being a *nix guru - I'm just wondering - when
using the embedded server (classic) like this, I presume that it's
running under the users account - not a firebird account?
If that's the case, we are getting reports such as 'cannot attach to
password database'. Does the security2.fdb file need to be read/write
for user and group only - it shouldn't need 'other' read/write
permissions? I presume that would also be the case for any databases
that we're accessing using this embedded server?
And following on from that - as long as the current user is a member of
the group which has rw access then it should work ok?
Thanks,
Peter Lee
