Thanks to Vlad's tips, I found out a bit more. The problem is that the
client uses another product "Magix Video Deluxe" which uses a Firebird
SQL server and they are using FB 1.5.

I use FB 2.0 embedded but they are setting something that when my
application starts it loads the fbclient.dll from the version 1.5 which
is installed in their app program folder e.g. "D:\VIDEO
etc\Common\Database\bin".

I suspected that they are setting "FIREBIRD" env variable but that does
not seem to be the case.

Appreciate any tips that I can do to prevent this or what they might set
that causes this in the first place.

I downloaded their test version and installed it but can not reproduct
the problem on my machine yet.
