I'm not sure whether it does or not, since it's been quite a while since our RPMs would install on my Linux boxes (being .i686, they refuse to "go" on my AMD Athlons). I just use the tarball installation - it's rock-solid - and the uninstall script for the uninstall. And - yes - I *do* keep copies of things I want to keep (aliases.conf, firebird.conf and security2.fdb, to name the basics!) in my home dir, 'coz I'm like that. :-|
