I have never really installed classic, but I think it should also work.

Before you install, make sure that you have libdstd++5 in your system.
Then, grab the .tar.gz archive from firebirdsql.org, extract it and
install it as sudo. The default installation path is /opt/firebird

I guess that's all you need to know.
