I won't ask why :) I already heard people _NOT_ changing from XP to
W2K3, but not that somebody would change back, _IF_ the system was
running fine...

My uneducated guess is that your problems are coming from the
limitation of simultaneous TCP/IP connections on XP. MS recommends to use
a server system for server tasks.

What you see probably is not that connections are terminated, but they
are probably "on hold".
