I had the same observation and asked in in this list. Subscribe to
[firebird general] list to keep informed. News about server down (and
hopfully up again) are posted there.

Sorry if this question was answered before, but I don't find recent
posts about it... Is there any problem with the server atkin? I use to
follow this group from years ago conecting to that news server, and now
Outlook Express keep saying it's imposible to connect to it...
