Actually it was ODBC's isql, but very good point. I've now run it with
Firebird's own isql and no problems.

So clearly the problem is ODBC, either I fix ODBC or I use another driver.

Can I ask you what driver you recommend for Firebird2.1_classic on Linux?

I am using Perl as the application development tool.
