I did not check the last and will if I ever have something like this again.

For those looking at this thread, I reinstalled in the Program Files
folder and everything still works fine.

So it may very well have been one of the first two issues, especially
the one about a file named, "Program' (et al).

It works fine and so does several other startup programs/services.
