My guess is you are hitting the 2GB limit of a 32 bit process, not
necessarily running out of memory per se, but running out of
addressable memory in the database engine.

We solved that by switching to classic (which conveniently scaled
better for us), but you could also try one of the 64 bit kits if you
have a 64 bit server (2.1.1 now has one for Windows).
