Remembered this post. I thought I'd add to it.

Out of curiosity, with a small site(60 connections max), low use, we
have had no issues with Vmware 3.0.2, suse 11, firebird 1.5x for a week
now running live.

The VM box has at the moment 3 other servers. Space enough for one more
service on machine at moment. However the the other 2 vm's do not do
much.

All in a live trial run to switch a larger site over.

If I remember I'll post an update in a month or so. When we gear up to
the larger site.
