Assuming your client did "NOT" re-install the OS, it could be that
he/she did "NOT" forget to properly configure the network.
Have him verify his IP address and related settings
Try to ping the server
Confirm that the NIC(s) is not disabled
Confirm that he (re)-installed the device drivers
Clients "DO" the dumbest things that they swear they did "NOT" do
Any word on System Restore, System Update or other "Rollback" software?
