I assume this "maintenance" to be something more than just backup? Firebird databases should not be backed up like other files at all, rather gbak (or similar) should be run and then the resulting file from gbak could be backed up by normal backup programs. I'm simply mentioning it because occasionally simple problems are overlooked through "miscommunication".
