Hi,
I've got a problem with some computers, not all, of a client which
cannot fetch records.... for some queries, not all
And same queries doesn't cause any problem for other computers of the
same client (same database, same server, same network)
We tried this: using IBConsole and IBExpert (sorry not isql)
if we run the query "select count(*) from a_table", we got the result
(around 20000 in our test case)
if we run the query "select * from a_table", "select first 10 * from
a_table" then the tool (ibconsole or ibexpert) doesn't respond anymore.
the same queries, with the same database and the same server works very
well on other computers of the client: we got the response quickly (some ms)
So we guessed some client computer configuration problem: we looked at
firewall, antivirus, network configuration (including tracert client to
server and server to client, conflict between dns and wins, no protocol
but tcp/ip)
but nothing seems incorrect (in fact, no difference from working computers)
we are using FB 1.5.5, default port
all client computers are under XP SP2
server under 2003, fixed ip
I'm not sure it is important, but main application uses IBO, tools uses
UIB or IBX (on problematic computers, all of our applications have got
the same symptoms)
Other clients (different configurations, different database but same
DDL) never feedback a similar problem.
Where should we look at to understand (at least) or solve our problem ?
Thierry
