After using SuperServer for quite a few years, we are now considering a
move towards using Classic Server.
We did some research already, and are generally enthusiastic about it.
However, there is one thing that got us worried. There is a post on the
following link, which outlines a problem with FireBird 1.5.x / 2.0.x in
combination with Linux Kernels 2.6.x.
http://www.nabble.com/FB-2.0.3-classic-is-blocking-on-4xCPU-(64bit)-opte
ron-system-under-heavy-load-td16094155.html
The only resolution according to the article is going back to the linux
2.4 kernel (which is very old by now), or switching to FB 2.5 (which is
in alpha testing, so not an option either).
We searched the Firebird Bug Tracker, but could not find any related bug
reports. Is there someone who recognizes this problem, and knows more
about its current status?
Kind regards,
Michel
