I just looked at your bug report and the answer, and I think this
might quite well belong here: "What you are seeing is coming from
the engine itself. Based on how it forks and such." That would mean
the reason for the wrong message is a Firebird problem, not
something wrong with the Gentoo or another package, wouldn't it?

BTW, I used Firebird 1.5.3 for quite a long time with SuSE and
Ubuntu, always starting the server manually, and I never had those
faulty messages. For SuSE I had the official rpm package, for Ubuntu
the packages of the distribution (not installed in /opt, but working
anyway).
