BTW, I used Firebird 1.5.3 for quite a long time with SuSE and
Ubuntu, always starting the server manually, and I never had those
faulty messages. For SuSE I had the official rpm package, for Ubuntu
the packages of the distribution (not installed in /opt, but working
anyway).
