Hello :-),
I'm new to Firebird and I have a problem to connect the Database via ODBC. I'll try to explain the Problem as good as possible. Please send me an e-mail if I''d missed something to tell you.
On Computer A there is a working Firebird Database. I can use an administration tool and it works fine. I can also install the Database-Server on Machine B and it works. With the ODBC driver I can localy connect the Firebird-Server on Machine B, but not the Server on Machine A.
ODBC-Settings I tried (for local connection):
Database: localhost:d:\my_db.fdb
Client: -
Database Account: SYSDBA
Password: [the top-secret default password ;-)]
Role: -
These settengs are working fine for the local Database.
For remote connection I tried two different ways. The first idea is to connect to the Database directly. I think it could be Port 3050 - sorry I don't have an nmap here. These was the settings:
Database: 192.168.0.98:\\z10765\database.gdb
Client: -
Database Account: SYSDBA
Password: [the top-secret default password ;-)]
Role: -
The next I've tried is to make the make the directory with the database accessable in the network.
Database: localhost:q:\database.gdb
Client: -
Database Account: SYSDBA
Password: [the top-secret default password ;-)]
Role: -
But testing the connection failed. I think the way to do it should be the first, connecting the Database via TCP/IP and without SMB.
I'm sorry about my terrible english and about the low knowledge about this database. Usually i use PostreSQL on a Linux oder a *BSD System. Windows and Firebird are very new to me. If you know any good Documentation about Administrating the Database send me a link.
Thanks,
Patrick
