When you have a connection established via VPN you should use the same IP as
in NY office. Router and VPN will do the rest.

I have similar situation:

My company network is 192.168.5....
My customer networsk is 192.168.2... and the firebird server is
192.168.2.200

I use the same connection string 192.168.2.200:/db/mydb.gdb being in my
company network
