I have been recently testing our application on Vista (Bus), the main
unsolved problem I have is when connected to the internet FB (either
1.53 or 2.01) slows to a crawl. I am using a remote TCP/IP connection
for FB1.53 as the LOCAL connection does not work and I have tried 2.01
with both a remote connection and changing the IPCNAME to
Global\FIREBIRD and have the same result. I did expect the IPCNAME
name change to correct the problem using FB2 as I thought it would
bypass TCP/IP (where I assume the problem is), but its seems not. An
interesting thing is that if I use LOCALHOST instead of the
COMPUTERNAME or IPADDRESS the problem goes away. The laptop came with
norton and I have shutdown all the firewall and intrusion stuff I
could fine which made no difference.
