After installing Firebird 2.0 with 'Run as a service" default option,
on Vista Ultimate machine, it appears impossible to run any
applications that use Firebird database, including the IBExpert.
When trying to open any FB2 database, the following message appears:
"Unsuccessful execution caused by an unavailable resource. Unavailable
database".
The Firebird server as well as the Firebird Guardian both appear to be
running, when inspected in the running processes admin window.
What's the trick to get this going under Vista ? There were never any
problems running FB2 as a server on Win XP machines.
Note: I have managed to get it going by uninstalling the Firebird and
installing it again and setting it to "run as an application".
Another problem: the FB2 Server Manager Applet no longer appears in
the Vista Control Panel, despite being installed.
Does this suppose to work under Vista ?
What needs to be done to get the same functionality as under Win XP ?
