Joao, adding to Elmar info, the hangs could means that is a exception
being swallowed on some place.
I have saw this before, maybe there is a data event (TDataSource.OnDataChange comes
to ming, TDataSet.AfterOpen could be a candidate too) on your back being fired and
throwing a exception making the program hangs.

On my experience there is an immidiate error message if there is no

Server on port 3050.



The error does come after an delay if the target host is unreachable.



There also is an error if I try to connect to an differnet port with

other software listening on (e.g. SMTP).
