Hi,
We have a problem with an internet connection to our Firebird 2.0 server.
The facts:
- when we use one of our apps and/or the EMS's SQL Manager 2005 to
connect to Firebird 2.0 through our public static IP address after a
very small amount of traffic (several hundreds of kB) the applications
get stuck and no traffic is seen. If we cut the connection from the
server (eg. by blocking the port 3050 from the firewall) then the remote
application(s) throws immediately an 'Connection error'
- using from the remote client the "telnet <our public ip> 3050" our
screen gets black. (IOW, it reaches to Fb). Also, the remote client can
use the internet. (Tested by browsing some pages in Internet Explorer).
- we can see in our firewalls (IPCop & Kerio WinRoute) that the
connections are established but in the Kerio's activity graph, after a
small spike in the beginning, nothing happens. (ie. traffic 0 kb).
- the same app(s) works ok when are in a LAN even if we put them
_outside_ of the firewalls. (So, imho, the firewalls are set correctly,
allowing the traffic)
- the remote laptop had a firewall which allowed the data stream to pass
according to logs & telnet test that we did. But for safety, we turned
off the laptop's firewall.
- the remote laptop was connected to internet with a G3 mobile card. The
_nominal_ speed was at 273 kb/s. The traffic histogram in G3 card's
manager is the same as in WinRoute's: a small spike at the beginning and
after this, 0 kb. (if in this period of 0 kb we'll open the Internet
Explorer, the browser works as expected and the card's histogram
reflects the traffic).
- tested the above with Firebird 2.0 SS on Windows XP SP2 and Ubuntu.
Ubuntu was hosted in a VMWare VM hosted on a Windows 2003 R2 machine.
Someone has any ideas why the applications cannot fetch the data?
TIA,
m. Th.
