After using the installer on Win2k Professional, Firebird will not start.

Using the applet to try starting the service, I get "Overlapped I/O
operation is in progress". The title bar of this dialog says:
"Error Code 997 raised in Service failed to complete its startup
sequence".

All I could find searching through messages in this group was msg
28774, which I tried to no avail.

I have removed and re-installed several times with various options,
with no luck.

I would really appreciate any information that anyone may have about
this. Two weeks ago I had Firebird installed and running and was
starting to try out different GUI tools. All of the sudden today I got
this error.
