That's right, and file system protection is generally
reliable.

Well, yes they do. About a third of the first page of hits
from googling "Oracle encryption" are reports of successful
attacks on Oracle's encryption. Unreliable encryption is
like putting a big fat lock on your door - made out of
marzipan.
