I run FB1.5.3 on 486 (AMD processor Am5x86-WB) machine without any
problem (except that it is somewhat slow, but that is expected). The
system is Slackware Linux 9.1 and I installed from binary .tar.gz package.

I don't understand what is VIA C3, it doesn't look like CPU? IIRC, the
only Pentium I CPUs (i586) were made by Intel, AMD and Cyrix.
