I have a client who is in French Canada that has an ODBC database I need to
copy into Firebird. I have a tool to do the transfer, but the tables that I
have created for them in the target Firebird database hasn't been created
correctly for the data they want to put in it.
When I attempt to transfer the data over, I get the error 'Cannot
transliterate character between character sets' which I suspect means that I
didn't create the columns/database with the correct character set support
for this.
What is the proper procedure to create tables in a database that will handle
French characters correctly? And when I make a connection to the database
and have the option to select a character set for the connection, which one
should I choose for French character support?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Regards,
Myles
