I don't know how your procedure is but we have a restore and validation after the backup (as It runs at night time) at our sites.
Just to confirm all is fine. If not we popup an app saying there is problems.

I also saw some backup managers that ran as services or apps. That one could use.

Basically let's say your harddrive is going and you discover it a week later on, and there was no warning, you will lose more money.

Thus some maintenance progamming can help here possible
