Daniel,

I think that Helen must be thinking about restoring the backup file to
a file name that is already existing which fails by design. Backup
overwriting an existing file does indeed succeed using gbak, but it is
something I would advise against doing as you stand to shoot yourself
in the foot.

I would rename the existing Friday.bak. Only after you have performed
a test restore on the backup taken and are comfortable that it
succeeded would I delete the renamed file.
