I see. Well, if all else fails, perhaps you could share a directory on
Windows, mount it somewhere on Linux (using smbmount or mount -t smb)
and backup directly to your Windows box? It should be dead easy to
setup, and you probably won't have any problems with privileges as file
will be written directly on your Windows box.
