No, I never heard of such issue (though I had something similar in
my application due some bugs in it) and nothing like this is
mentioned in change log for 1.5.3 and 2.0.

If I were you, I would re-check your event handling code and try to
watch network packets to determine whether server has lost your event
subscription or your application don't react properly.
