I can't telnet to localhost 3050, but pinging is fine.

I think i'll try ripping everything out and reinstalling FB from scratch... I can't find anything in my o/s relating to /usr/local/firebird

Many thanks

Julie

This is the key - it's "refused", not just "not answered"

try and 'telnet' to localhost 3050
you can ping localhost ok?

It sounds a lot like a firewall's blocking this port...
