Subject RE: [firebird-support] FreeBSD & Firebird
Author Nigel Weeks
Firebird is fully supported on the FreeBSD operating system.
Only the Classic edition is available, as SuperServer didn't scale as well.

Don't bother looking for a binary, it's far easier to build it from source.

`cd /usr/ports/databases/firebird-server`
`make install`

That way, it'll install all the dependencies, configure for your processor,
and install all libraries automatically.
If you install it via a binary, you'll be doing it the Linux way, and that's
far too slow(Download the binary, try and install, get a list of
dependencies, go find them, install them, retry installation, etc)
