Let me see if I understand. Everything is fine if you set statistics,
even without the backup/restore? Set statistics is an on-line, low-cost
operation. Can you use it periodically? A backup restore is an
off-line, high-cost operation and I would not recommend that as a
solution to a live application problem unless there were no alternative.
