I received this email from my co-worker:
We were able to get backups working on <server>. It came down to a
permissions/process communications problem. When gbak is running as root it
can't receive signals from the firebird owned process fb_inet_server
Does this make sense?
Environment:
O/S CentOS Linux
Firebird 1.5x
