You so don't win...
Pentium 166 MMX with 64mb ram, 4.3GB hard disk, 287MB database, hosting an
underground ( management knows nothing...) file archive system for some of
our digital assets(images, etc).
This machine shadows the main fileservers, and distributes the storage of
files on workstation's hard drives via smbclient around the company, and
keeps a central index in Firebird on it's own disk. Essentially, it's a
network RAID array.
Around 20 people use it, pulling files via it's web interface every day.
(It's far, far quicker that restoring from tape...)

I have a customer running FB + SAMBA on an AMD K6 ~450Mhz (was this the

I really try to convince my customer to change this "server" but he
complains and says "Why should I change ???? I just works !"
Well.. I hope those cheaps IDE disks runs for more than 8 years without
a fail :-)
see you !
